Boston Lofts

About
The community historically known as the Boston & Pierr Lofts is a residential property located at 1441 5th Avenue and 423 15th Street in Moline, Illinois.
The history of this property is rooted in the industrial expansion and mid-to-late 20th-century revitalization of the Quad Cities region along the Mississippi River.
The original historic structure was built in 1897. During this era, the Moline and Davenport riverfronts thrived as massive manufacturing and industrial trade hubs. The building originally featured architectural staples of late-19th-century commercial engineering, including heavy brickwork, high open ceilings, and large windows intended to let in natural light for workforce production.
As traditional industrial manufacturing declined in the mid-to-late 20th century, many of the core brick warehouses along the riverfront were vacated. Rather than demolishing these structures, city urban renewal plans favored adaptive reuse.
The historic three-story building was eventually preserved and retrofitted into an 18-unit residential community. The renovation preserved its classic industrial heritage—such as exposed brick and expansive window bays—while dividing the open-concept layout into modern one- and two-bedroom apartments.
Today, the building functions as a boutique apartment complex offering modern residential amenities while anchoring a piece of Downtown Moline's late-19th-century industrial history.
